What is monotyping? Monotyping is a type of printmaking made by drawing or painting on a smooth, non-absorbent surface. The surface can be a copper etching plate, zinc or glass. The image is then transferred onto a sheet of paper by pressing the two together, usually using a printing-press.
How it works? For our workshops, we will create monotypes using inks, gouache, watercolors and opaque paper. The result is always a surprise. When you get your monotype with unbelievable combinations of colors, then you can apply all your imagination and turn your print into anything you like: seascape with boats, forest landscapes, creatures from fairy tales, and portraits; or you can leave it as it is. You will leave the workshop with a finished artwork made by you.
Is it for me? We recommend Monotyping Workshop for those, who would like to relax after a busy day, create something positive and enjoy playing with colors. Monotyping can become your new hobby or an additional way to express yourself.
