Students will learn washing, wet and dry techniques, shading rules, warm and cold colour use in glazing. We will explain how to work on still lives, landscapes and different textures as well as illustrations and portraits. That’s a basic course we recommend before taking any special watercolour course.

Session 1: Intro to watercolours. Materials and use. Wet vs. dry techniques. Painting a landscape.
Session 2: Depth in landscapes: techniques and tips.
Session 3: Practicing basic forms. Still life.
Session 4: Practicing different textures. Painting a glass bottle.
Session 5: Practicing different textures. Painting a bird.
Session 6: Illustration in watercolour. Humpty Dumpty with watercolour and pen.
Session 7-8: Layering and working on portraits.

- Watercolour paper A4 or bigger
- HB pencil and eraser
- Artist grade watercolours 10+ colours
- Soft squirrel imitation or other synthetic or natural brushes: flat #8 or 10 or 12, round #6 and #2 or 3.
- Gel pen
