These brushes have quite stiff synthetic hair, which makes them perfect for work with acrylic and oil. For watercolours we’d suggest kolinsky imitation and squirrel imitation brushes, which are softer and work better for soft paints.
Flat brushes are mostly used for spreading, blending and painting sharp edges.
